A Paduan edition of Petrarch’s Canzoniere and the Rime

In 1472 Bartolomeo Valdezocco printed an important edition of Petrarch, comprising the Canzoniere and the Triumphs. The edition is significant in the history of 15th  century typography for the attention paid to the accuracy of the text by the publisher and the Trivulziana exemplar is rendered even more valuable by the exquisite illuminations attributed to the Master of the Putti, an artist who, in light of the strong stylistic influence of Mantegna, most probably received his training in Padua.
